Made of crystal clear polystyrene, these 5ml capacity, 12x75mm FlowTubes™ are designed for Fluorescence Activated Cell Sorting (FACS™)/ flow cytometry equipment including FACS systems from BD Biosciences (Calibur, Accuri, FACSverse, Aria, Celesta, LSRFotessa, and FACScanto models), and for similar equipment from other popular manufacturers. FAC is a technique to purify specific cell populations based on phenotypes detected by flow cytometry.
Certified RNase-DNase Free. Sterile FlowTubes products are E-Beam sterilized (SAL 10-6).
FlowTubes have strict dimensional specifications to ensure complete compatibility and a perfect seal with gaskets/o-rings on FACS equipment nozzles.
The diameter and wall thickness of the tube's neck is held to very tight tolerances to ensure consistent compatibility with the automated instrument. They are available with a standard two-position culture snap-cap, with no snap-cap at all, or with a snap-cap that contains a nylon mesh screen (20µm, 35µm, 70µm, and 100µm nylon mesh strainers are also available, sold separately). Tubes are also available and sold separately). FlowTubes are designed to assist in cell sorting/straining applications. These tubes are primarily used to collect dissociated sample for subsequent processing in automated flow cytometry instruments.
Typically a 35µm porous mesh is used to obtain a single-cell suspension and to prevent clogging in FACS instrumentation. However, a multitude of FACS users have cited applications requiring finer pore sizes for a higher level of anti-clog protection, while others require a larger pore size for pre-sorting and/or for more efficient rapid flow.
