Real-Seal™ Plastic Carboys are designed to meet large volume liquid storage and dispensing needs for most demanding laboratory applications. Rugged and durable, these Carboys are a safe and shatterproof alternative to glass for mixing, storing, and dispensing liquids in volumes up to 50 liters. The carboys are available in a wide range of materials (PP, HDPE, and LDPE) and are suitable for use with most media, reagents, and solutions. Minimum wall thickness is 2.5mil (3.3mil for heavy-duty carboys).
Real-Seal™ Leak Testing Protocol
Leak testing and “Leak proof” designation for bottles and carboys above 1000mL:
• Carboys are filled to 80% of nominal capacity, closed per minimum torque requirements • Carboys are inverted and inspected for leakage
• Carboys are partially inverted with water in contact with closure for 24 hours and are inspected for leakage
Standard leak testing of Real-Seal™ carboys are performed with water. Testing with other liquids may yield different results.
