Micro-Spins are microcentrifuge centrifugal spin filter devices designed for the separation /removal of bacteria, cells, and particles from liquids, for HPLC sample preparation, and for the removal of DNA from agarose or acrylamide gels.
These separation spin units are used for the filtration, concentration, desalting, and deproteinization of small volumes of aqueous and non-aqueous solutions. A Complete device consist of a polypropylene insert that houses a filter membrane and a 2.0ml micro-reservoir (filtrate) receiver tube with hinged cap (fits into standard micro-centrifuges). Solutions to be filtered are placed into the insert which is then placed into the micro-reservoir (micro-tube). Filtration area is a 0.19cm2 and a maximum operating temperature is 50 degrees Celsius. Inserts can accommodate sample volumes from 50µl to 750µl. Hold-up to volumes on the membranes are low (>5µl). Resulting in minimal sample loss. Available in non-sterile only. Maximum centrifugal force is 10,000 x G.
All components, except for the filter membrane, are manufactured from high purity polypropylene.

1.) CA Membrane: Hydrophilic, Low protein binding Cellulose Acetate for aqueous applications.
2.) NY Membrane: Hydrophilic, Nylon is extensively used in HPLC applications requiring particulate removal, sample preparation for electrophoresis and other laboratory applications.
3.) PVDF Membrane: Hydrophilic, PVDF (Polyvinylidene Difluoride) membrane filter is designed for aqueous applications. PVDF has a high flow rate and high loading capacity. It can be typically used in bacteria removal of culture media and any other protein solutions.
4.) PES Membrane: Hydrophilic, low protein, and drug binding, Polyethersulfone (PES) is designed for aqueous applications. Ideal for cell culture applicaitons.
5.) RC Membrane: Hydrophilic, low protein binding Regenerated Cellulose is solvent resistant. RC is ideal for removing particulates from HPLC samples, prior to injection, and for aqueous applications.
6.) PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) membrane: Naturally Hydrophobic, PTFE is inert and suitable for aqueous or non-aqueous applications. Ideal for HPLC.
