Nylon membrane filters are manufactured by impregnating a polyester web with the Nylon polymer. The resultant membrane is very strong and heat resistant up to 180°C.
Several unique properties of Nylon make this media universally accepted in the laboratory. Nylon is inherently hydrophilic, does not require prewetting, and has a negligible amount of aqueous extractables(<0.2%) This media is compatible with a broad range of aqueous and organic solutions including alcohols and solvents frequently used in HPLC sample preparation. Nylon membrane binds protein, DNA and RNA. Other applications include filter sterilize and clarify buffers, microbiological and tissue culture solutions as well as vacuum degassing.
Membranes have a white plain surface and are offered non-sterile. May be sterilized by autoclave, EtO, or dry heat.
