Omega Biotek DNA Agarose Gel Extraction Kit, V-spin with cap
50 preps
V-Column spin design (with cap)
This kit recovers pure DNA brands 100 bp-10 kb in length from all grades (and brands) of agarose gels with yields reaching 85% in less than 15 minutes.
DNA Recovery from Agarose Gels
- Compare with QIAGEN’s QIAquick® Gel Extraction Kits -
#28704 and #28706
Agarose Gel purification of DNA is a common technique for the isolation of specific DNA fragments for reaction mixtures. However, most methods either fail or completely remove agarose (which can lead to problems in downstream manipulations), shear the DNA, or result in very low yields. The Agarose Gel DNA Extraction Kit uses proprietary HiBind spin-column silica matrix technology. This kit recovers pure DNA brands 100 bp-10 kb in length from all grades (and brands) of agarose gels with yields reaching 85% in less than 15 minutes. The DNA band of interest is excised from the agarose gel, dissolved in Binding Buffer, and applied to the DNA HiBind spin- column. Following a rapid wash step, DNA is eluted with deionized water (or low salt buffer). The product is then suitable for downstream applications including ligations, PCR amplification, restriction digestion, and various labeling reactions. This kit includes a binding buffer with a pH indicator and a newly formulated DNA elution buffer.
Omega DNA/RNA Clean-Up
Spin Kits and 96-well Kits
DNA and RNA Clean-Up kits feature both our HiBind Spin column technology and our HighBind MagnetBeads technology. In many cases, these kits are necessary as a prerequisite for reliable and consistant downstream applications such as amplification, cloning, sequencing, and microarray protocols. Under appropriate conditions, nucleic acids can be purified (cleaned up) from reaction mixtures and agarose or acrylamide gels. Regardless of the application and the type of nucleic acid (labeled or not), there is an Omega Clean-Up kit available for rapid and reliable purification.
Storage and Stability - Kit isolation components are guaranteed for at least 12 months from the date of purchase, when stored as recommended in supplied instruction manuals.
Two Column Designs for Mini-Kits
1.) Q-Column Spins, our original spin column designed for centrifugation protocols,
feature a large capacity reservoir above the HiBind DNA resin and a flat bottom.
This allows for a larger volume of sample to be processed in the column at one time
with better flow-through during centrifugation. Expect higher yields with Q-spins.
2.) V-Column Spins are equipped with a standard outlet luer at its bottom for an
easy to use and leak-free connection to vacuum manifolds or luer hub needles.
V-Columns can be used with centrifugation and/or vacuum manifold protocols.
