Omega Biotek E.Z.N.A.® Insect (Invertebrate) genomic DNA Kit is designed for efficient recovery of genomic DNA up to 60 kb in size from insects, arthropods, roundworms, flatworms, invertebrates, as well as some plant tissue samples. The method is suitable for samples frozen or preserved in alcohol or DNE solution, and good results can be obtained with formalin preserved material. The procedure relies on the well-established properties of the cationic detergent, cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), in conjunction with the selective DNA binding of Omega Bio-tek’s HiBind matrix. This allows salts, proteins and other contaminants to be removed to yield high-quality genomic DNA suitable for downstream applications such as endonuclease digestion, thermal cycle amplification, and hybridization techniques.
- Rapid – DNA isolation under 20 minutes following lysis
- Reliable – Optimized buffer system guarantee pure DNA every time
- High-quality – Purified DNA suitable for any application
- Flexible – Optimized buffer system can isolate DNA from a wide range of samples
Genomic DNA purified using the E.Z.N.A.® Insect DNA Kit. Purified genomic DNA from various insects was isolated with the E.Z.N.A.® Insect DNA Kit. DNA was extracted from 20 mg insect tissue as follows: lane 1 from fire ants, lane 2 from roach, lane 3 from butterfly. Genomic DNA (10% of total purified DNA) was analyzed on a 0.8% agarose gel to demonstrate yield and quality of the DNA. M: Lambda Hind III DNA Marker
