Preserve intact cellular RNA for more than 12 months. RNA Lock Reagent provides an alternative method to the current inconvenient, dangerous, and equipment intensive methods such as storage in liquid nitrogen or -80°C freezer.
One of the major difficulties for RNA research is the RNA degradation during collection, storage and transportation of samples. It is extremely important to immediately stabilize RNA in biological samples because of changes in the gene-expression patterns occur due to specific and nonspecific RNA degradation. Stabilization is essential for all reliable quantitative gene-expression analysis such as biochip and array analysis, and quantitative RT-PCR
The E.Z.N.A.® RNA Lock stabilizer reagent is an innovative reagent which rapidly lyses cells and tissues to inactivate RNases at room temperature. Penetrating the sample by diffusion, simply submerge the samples, such as cell cultures, animal tissues, and white blood cells into the RNA Lock stabilizer reagent. The intact cellular RNA will be preserved even at elevated temperature. Samples can be stored in this reagent in excess of 12 months at -20°C.
Total RNA purified after storing in the E.Z.N.A.® RNA Lock Stabilizer Reagent. Purified total RNA from 20 mg mouse liver was isolated with the E.Z.N.A.® Total RNA Kit II. The figures show biological samples stored in RNA Lock can last up to 1 day at 30-37°C, 6 days at room temperature (20-25°C), and 1 month at 4°C conditions. Total RNA (10% of total purified RNA) was analyzed on a 1% agarose gel to demonstrate yield and quality of the RNA.

RNA Lock Reagent is suitable for small quantities of animal tissues (<150 mg), cultured cells, and white blood cells. The simplicity of the RNA-Lock Reagent method allows simultaneous processing of a large number of samples.
