Phosphate Buffer pH 7.2 is used for preparing dilution blanks. This materials’ formulation is specified by the American Public Health Association (APHA) for use in diluting test samples of water, dairy products and foods prior to microbiological examination. The buffer is also referred to as Butterfield's Buffered Phosphate Diluent and can be used with the addition of 5mL magnesium chloride.
